While visiting our son in Delaware we all had the chance to visit Chincoteague National Wildlife Refuge. I had heard about the wild horses on the island and was not disappointed in all the sights around the refuge. As you drive around, hike the trails or stroll along the shore there was always something to see and photograph. The ponies we saw were on the refuge in Maryland and managed by the National Park Service. The ponies on the island in Virginia are owned by the Chincoteague Volunteer Fire Department and well known for their pony swim in July.
