I still have a few more systems to put in place and clean out but for the most part I'm good and ready to start creating. I left off last year painting on old books covers and have a couple more I can start to paint on. Knowing I wanted to paint an owl again I referred to a website for reference wildlife photos. This site is great and for $5 you can purchase a reference photo to paint from in any manner you please. If you are ever in need of a wildlife reference here is the link to the site. http://wildlifereferencephotos.com
Ok with reference in hand I'm ready to begin the layout. I try to find the most interesting and pleasing layout on the covers where even the exposed spine doesn't interfere but becomes a part of the whole picture. I do a lot of this in photoshop but sometimes sketched thumbnails are helpful. Below are the beginning stages of the next painted old book cover.
2016 is going to be a very creative year!
