I've had this idea to do something with old books for quite awhile, so when an exhibit opportunity came up to use reclaimed materials it was time to see what I could create.

I have long been inspired by mixed media book artists and lately by bird and wildlife artists who work in graphite. The background was created in photoshop then printed so I could do the transfer with a rubbing method I designed.
The crows were drawn in graphite with a touch of white gouache for highlights around the eyes. A touch of watercolor and the quote added to the background.
