This week was spent updating web sites I take care of for organizations I volunteer for. And getting paper work ready for tax time. Yes that crazy time of year when paper work needs to be done. If I keep myself organized I can gather everything in one day. It's now ready to hand over to my husband to take care of the recording and filing. Last Sunday I delivered my artwork for the Lake Effect Show in Ripley NY and tonight is the opening. Should be a good time and I am looking forward to meeting new artists and patrons at the Sensory Gallery and Winery. Since then I have been thinking about my next painting projects. I have two coming up and one of them is really going to let me go beyond my comfort zone. A bit scary but I am excited to be a part of this show coming up. Several local artists have been asked to pick an artist from the 1913 Armory Show in New York City and create a painting that represents the chosen artists painting from the Armory Show. ![]() The Artist I chose was Mary Cassatt. I love her paintings and how she captured the loving moments between mother and child. Pictured here is: 'Reine Lefbvre and Margot Before a Window' by Mary Cassatt. This painting was in the Armory Show in Gallery O. I'm going to be using my daughter in law and grandson as models for my painting. I have my work cut out for me so the next few weeks I'll be studying Mary Cassatt and experimenting with small studies of Cassatt's style. ![]() Today I went to the library and checked out four books about Mary Cassatt. I want to get to know this artists well before I start to try and copy her style. This is a big step for me and I am looking forward to what I can learn from this experience. I have a feeling there will be other artists I will study after Cassatt. I'll let you know how it is coming along. In the meantime stay warm. Enjoy the day.

Thank you Cassie! After my Mary Cassatt project I'll be back to painting birds again for a show coming up.
