A few weeks ago I rushed to finish this painting for a juried show. The closing time to enter was 4 o'clock and I put the finishing touches on it at 3 o'clock. Needless to say I did not have time to photograph it. It did get into the show so last Friday I had an opportunity to drive to the gallery to take some photos.
I know not really the best scenario but then this painting has been a work in progress for sometime now. I'm not even sure when I first started it! I originally started it with watercolors on canvas but was not completely satisfied so the painting hung in my studio till I felt confident with the right approach. Since lately I have been working with acrylics and liking the outcome I decided to redo the painting by painting over it with acrylics.
Below you can see the first attempt at this painting I did a couple of years ago and next to it is the painting as it is now with the make-over hanging in the gallery. Also you can see it is a gallery wrap painting.
Sometimes a painting isn't a total loss it is just waiting for a new approach and a fresh look.
If you are local the painting was accepted into the Lily Art Show at the Stonewall Gallery, Cambridge Springs, PA.
The reception is this Saturday July 20th from 1 till 3 p.m. Hope to see you there!
