acrylic on canvas, 12 x 9 inches
Synchronicity ... this is about as close as I can get to describing how this piece came together. And it all started this summer when my husband and I were in Maine. I found this mug with the owls and just had to buy it. The mug is signed on the bottom by Mara. It is a production mug but I still love it. You can read a bit more about Mara here.
As I purchased the mug I began getting ideas about a painting, so the process began.

I have been enjoying painting these small pieces lately. Besides being samples to show my students (see acrylic workshop page) they are pieces for the holiday show I have been invited to be in at the Kelly Run Gallery in Cambridge Springs, PA.
I plan on creating more small pieces for the holiday season and as always if you are interested in this piece or any other original work for sale please contact me for purchase options and price.
Thank you! Enjoy your day.
Acrylic on canvas 5 x 7 inches
I am enjoying painting small pieces for my acrylic workshop. Amazing what you can fit onto a 5 x 7 canvas. In our first class I discussed different grounds that can be applied to canvas plus color charts. I am big on a limited palette and making color charts. I love to mix my own greens and earth tones. I find when I paint that if I limit myself to three or four colors I don't get mud and everything is in harmony.
