Other areas of priority will be working in the studio and finally putting aside my fears and try Plein Air painting. I have already started painting some landscapes in the studio. I think once I get somewhat comfortable with landscapes I'll be ready to take the easel outdoors.
My health is another priority. I've already taken some measure there. I started getting out on my bike and riding around our state park at Presque Isle. I need to work on getting up and out the door in the morning when it is cooler. Motivation...need to work on that. Saying daily affirmations help so will work on the wording to get going in the morning. I started to take herbal supplements and they really do work. I have less pain from arthritis and seasonal allergies have been minimal. So in case you are wondering I take Turmeric, Elderberry and Echinacea.
I am also going to be setting short and long term goals for my art career. First produce more work. I've been told to just show up and do the work. Inspiration will follow along with improvement. So even if I am not sure what to create next I will just start something. Even getting back to my sketchbooks. I will be setting my sights on acquiring one person shows and group shows with one or two people. My largest goal will be entering and getting accepted into the Birds in Art exhibit held each year at the Woodson Art Museum. Now that will be a lofty goal.
There you have it no more excuses. We are entering my favorite time of year as Autumn approaches. I will be starting each day with positive affirmations, love, peace, joy and giving.
I have the Artist Way book and will re-visit its contents. I know as I read it again I will see things I did not see before. We all need positive affirmations. What are some that you follow or say on a daily basis?
It may have been quiet here on my blog but not in my studio. I have been busy making plans for the year. Getting myself organized and ready to produce some art without interruption. At least I want to improve over last year.
So I devised a working schedule that could be flexible. Seeing the schedule on a spreadsheet helps to see if I am on track and getting enough painting time in during the week. But before it can really take effect I had to get paper work out of the way and hand over some volunteer duties to others in my art group. Freeing up time for my work is key this year.
In between small bits of time I have been admiring other artists in the area of nature, wildlife and birds. So much inspiration when I see the works of some artists. I have several ideas coming together and looking forward to trying them.
Part of my plan was to make sure I have enough business cards. In the past I would print some out whenever I needed them. It was time consuming and not very cost effective. So this year I redesigned and had cards printed by Vista Print. The cards are wonderful! A heavier stock with a gloss finish. I will definitely do more promotional material through them.
My next step was to offer ways for you to enjoy my work and share it with others. I have created note cards and greeting cards in the past but wanted to take them to a new level.
I wanted to be able to produce an art greeting card that you could frame or give as a gift. After sampling different greeting card papers I finally found and really like the paper from Red River Paper. I chose an archival 100% cotton rag paper that is cut and scored to the size I needed. The paper is beautiful and comes in a box of 50 sheets. It goes through my Canon Pixma Pro printer beautifully. With the pigment inks in my printer and the fine art paper we have a giclee as a greeting card.
So I can say with confidence you can frame these cards and give them as gifts besides sending a greeting to a loved one or friend.
I have also given my web site a bit of a makeover and expanded the online store with the cards and now offer the Giclee Prints in various sizes where applicable. Take a look and if you see any glitches please let me know.
Be sure to check out the Art Greeting Cards. More to come each month.
Thanks and enjoy,
