Acrylic on canvas 5 x 7 inches
I am enjoying painting small pieces for my acrylic workshop. Amazing what you can fit onto a 5 x 7 canvas. In our first class I discussed different grounds that can be applied to canvas plus color charts. I am big on a limited palette and making color charts. I love to mix my own greens and earth tones. I find when I paint that if I limit myself to three or four colors I don't get mud and everything is in harmony.
With Apple Harvest I used Daniel Smith watercolor ground as a base for the acrylics. This allowed my to paint a watercolor background for the fresh picked apple. The apple and leaves were painted with more concentration of paint like in oils. For me this is the beauty of acrylics, they can be so diverse.
I am thinking of creating an online class painting with acrylics so would love to get your feedback. Please leave a comment about an online workshop. Now go out and enjoy your day and take in the beauty of Autumn.
