A couple of years ago I photographed this sweet hummingbird in the early evening hours on a mid summer day. She sat there on one of my iron garden ornaments as if in deep thought. As I painted her I wondered was she anticipating her migration south. The hummingbirds do seem to feed quite a bit then and sit in the garden just before nightfall.
Life sure has its ups and downs and this past week my Aunt passed away un expectedly. This little hummer reminds me of her. We would let each other know on facebook when our hummingbirds arrived in the Spring and she sure found joy watching them out her window. I wonder if she sat there in anticipation also. I do know my Aunt found comfort in her God and Family. Even though I finished this piece just before her death it will always remind me of her. Perhaps this little hummingbird will remind you of someone near and dear to your heart forever.
